Find your perfect fit

Getting the fit of your bra right is essential, if you’re looking for all-day comfort.

Elastic riding up? Straps constantly falling off your shoulders? Or maybe your straps leave angry red weals at the end of each day and your shoulders and back ache from carrying the weight of your breasts.

Organic cotton grown without harsh chemicals or pesticides and GOTS certified dyes mean that our bras don’t contain the toxins and plastics you might find in other bras, but if you aren’t wearing the right size, you will still find yourself fidgeting and rearranging, stuck in a constant cycle of adjust and readjust.

Getting the fit of your bra right is essential if you’re looking for all-day comfort, so here is our simple guide to finding your perfect fit.

Go small! Fit the elastic around your chest.

Most women aren’t wearing the right size bra.

You might think that choosing a bigger size and going looser will be more comfortable, but in actual fact, the opposite is true. The elastic around your chest needs to fit snugly. Not so tight that it leaves angry red marks, but tight enough that it doesn’t ride up. This is the key element in a well fitting bra because this piece of elastic is intended to provide the under-support that your bust needs. Boobs can be heavy! And if the elastic around your chest is too loose, the full weight of your bust will be hanging from the shoulder straps, resulting in sore shoulders, back ache and worse.

So let’s get measuring. You’ll need a tape measure, and you could get a friend to help with this. Better yet, help each other!

STEP 1: Measure under your breasts, at the point where they meet your body, tight around your rib cage. The tape measure should be snug enough that you can’t easily fit a finger underneath, but not so tight as to mark you. This is your chest measurement. To find the right garment size for you, you can check our handy size guide here. If you are at the top or bottom of a size break, you may want to try a size up or down.

STEP 2: Measure again around the fullest part of your bust. The difference between the two measurements is your cup size. One cup size is about 3cm or 1 inch.

If you have a cup size C/D or below then our Carrie Soft Cup Bra and Freya Yoga Bra will be perfect for you. D or above: you can try a size up, or better yet, try our Suki Day to Night Bra, which has been specifically designed to provide all day comfort for the fuller chest.

And if you’re still not sure of your size or the right style for you, please just drop us an email to: info@elliotorganics.co.uk - we’ll be happy to help.

Finding the right bra isn’t difficult, when you have the right information.
