Nature - Our Healer

I have been writing about my love of nature since I started elliot. organics. I hope it is evident in everything we do.

I have known too about its power to heal; but it is only in these last couple of years that I have really felt that for myself.

I walk a lot. Two or three times a day I find myself putting on shoes, a jacket, heading out - my dog Rosie at my side.

Last year I was walking to help manage the sadness of watching my dad's health steadily decline. This year I have walked to ease the pain of his loss, and to feel his continued presence in every new flower, every new leaf on the trees.

Now I walk to calm the anxiety of a different fear, a looming health issue of my own.

Step by step, breath by breath, I appreciate the new leaves, the green of the new grass and the sunlight as it catches those new leaves and stems. There is always birdsong; the joyful play of new life.

I will be taking a few weeks sabbatical in June to rest and heal, but you can be sure that, as soon as I am able, I will be putting on my shoes and heading out again, to breathe that sweet forest air, to hear the drip of rain on new leaves, or to turn my face to the sun and feel the warm summer breeze on my skin.

With love to you all.
